Fires impacted mainly the eastern and central positions of the Texas Panhandle, according to the National Weather Service.

On Wednesday afternoon, the smokehouse in Hutchinson County had grown to an estimated 850,000 acres and was 3% contained.

The fire also crossed into northwestern Oklahoma, affecting several local and state highways. Evacuation of a hospital and nursing home in Shattuck also occurred due to the Texas wildfires.

The Windy Deuce Fire has burned around 90,000 acres and was 25% contained. More than 40 houses were damaged in Fritch since Monday as parts of the city have been evacuated.
